Sneaker Guide for Spring

Spring is right around the corner, and that means getting your hands (er, feet) on some great running shoes. Your lifestyle will dictate the type of shoe you should get – if you plan on travelling or doing a lot of walking, you’ll want lighter, more comfortable running shoes. If you’re active and do a lot of exercising, your preferences will be different. Some seniors have balance or mobility issues and the right shoe can help ease those challenges.

Here is your ultimate sneaker guide for spring.

For the ladies who…

Walk

The Dmx Comfort + shoes from Reebok are super light, but durable too. They have a breathable mesh upper that keeps feet cool and dry. But what you’ll really love is its innovative design – air actually moves from the heel to the forefoot and back as you move, for a soft landing with every stride. These sneaks come in a cool chalky shade that has a fun retro feel to them.

Jog

Reebok’s Floatzig 1 shoes are made with premium lightweight foam technology, so they won’t weigh you down as you do your running circuit. Their design has enhanced cushioning, energy return and a smooth transition underfoot – three must-haves in a great running shoe. They come in three cool colours too.

Hike

For comfort, support and a helping hand during hikes, there’s Columbia’s Women’s Hatana Breathe shoe. They have everything that you’re looking for in a great hiking shoe, such as responsive cushioning and a lacing system that locks you in. And, thanks to their wet-dry traction outsole, you’ll be comfortable anywhere you go.

Exercise

The Fresh Foam X 1080v13 from New Balance has a unique combination of reliable comfort and high performance, so it’s great for sports, the gym or at-home training. Versatile enough for both everyday activity and more intense workouts, they’re designed with a second-skin style of mesh upper that is breathable and supportive. Its midsole cushioning offers smooth transitions from landing to push-off, and it offers its wearer the push that we all need sometimes to keep on going.

Steve Madden’s Lineage Tan Multi has stylish good looks and all-around comfort for daily wear. They are light and comfy, with a cushioned back heel to keep feet safe and cozy all day long. They are also extremely durable. And they not only offer support, they have a sole with treads for added stability.

For the men who…

Walk

The Nike Air Max 1 blends timelessness with a cushioned design, making these ideal for men who accumulate a lot of steps. Plush and comfortable, the Max Air cushioning has just the right amount of support. The waffle outsole has flex grooves for traction that’s flexible and durable. Sporting a cool fast-paced look in eight different shades, this classic sneaker first hit the scene in 1987 and continues to be just as popular today.

Jog

Reebok’s Floatride Energy 5 are really innovative shoes. Not only do they feature an evolved, wider and taller Floatride Energy Foam midsole for energy return and support, the Speed Shift upper ensures comfort and durability too. Its sculpted design offers core stability and reduced weight, and they’re made with recycled materials and a sugarcane sockliner for an eco-conscious nod to Mother Nature. You’ll get both lasting traction and lightweight performance on your next run in these sneakers.

Hike

The Charged Maven Trail Running Shoes by Under Armour are built to help you hit the trails quickly and easily. They offer comfortable, cushioned support while hiking so your feet won’t get tired or sore, and they are really durable. Their textured bottoms have excellent grip wherever you’re hiking, whether it’s dirt, sand or groundcover.

Exercise

New Balance’s FuelCell Rebel v4 was designed for athletic training. They were specially crafted to be light and fast, and are built with FuelCell foam to deliver maximum propulsion and speed with minimal weight. Whether you’re doing cardio or weight-resistance exercises, these will be your go-to shoes.

They combine convenience, support and stability, and can be put on and taken off hands-free with no shoelaces to fumble over. A heel pillow and interior cushioning make it feel as if you’re walking on air, and its anti-slip rubber outsole ensure your safety. This style of shoe comes in four colours.
