Travel Building-sized boulders The following morning, we sailed to The Baths. The series of small sandy beaches and coves, separated by enormous granite boulders, is located on the southwest tip of Virgin Gorda, the third largest of the British Virgin Islands. We followed a trail to several grottoes with tiny secluded pools, nearly hidden behind randomly scattered rocks. Some were as large as houses. Others resembled whales, shaded by coconut palms. The Baths is a beach playground for the entire family. Couples liked the private sandy beaches accessed by wind-carved tunnels. Children enjoyed exploring the tidal pools left behind by crashing surf. Teens loved to plunge from rocky ledges into the sea. Everyone had fun climbing over and around the rocks and through arches into the maze of water-carved passageways. Some tunnels led into caves with cathedral ceilings. Shafts of sunlight pierced openings in the rocks, creating sparkling diamonds in the aquamarine water. The Baths’ rocks, caves and tunnels were also fun to explore underwater.
